OCA President opens 2022 Asian Games HQ


Hangzhou, China, April 17, 2017: The President of the Olympic Council of Asia, HE Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah, opened the headquarters office of the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games organising committee in China on Monday. Sheikh Ahmad was joined in the landmark occasion by the Deputy Governor of Zhejiang Province, Mr Cheng Cheng Yue Chong, and the Mayor of Hangzhou, Mr Xu Liyi.

Mayor Xu gave a detailed progress report on the past 15 months’ preparations since Hangzhou was awarded the right to host the 2022 Asian Games by the OCA. During the OCA President’s two-day visit, all levels of government guaranteed their full support and cooperation to the successful hosting of the 19th Asian Games in 2022.

Sheikh Ahmad also met with Hangzhou Municipal Party Secretary Mr Zhao Yide, Zhejiang Provincial Party Secretary Mr Che Jun, the minister in charge of the General Administration of Sport in China (GASC) and new Chinese Olympic Committee President Mr Gou Zhongwen, as well as GASC deputy minister Mr Yang Shu’an.

Sheikh Ahmad was accompanied by IOC and OCA Vice President Yu Zaiqing and OCA Director General Husain Al Musallam. The main themes of the 19th Asian Games - Hangzhou 2022 will be “Green, Smart, Economical and Culture and Humanity”.
