With only 100 days to go until the historic Ashgabat 2017 5th Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games commence in the Turkmen capital, excitement is brewing all over the country. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, in collaboration with the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography, will celebrate the happy occasion by organising a three-day International Media Forum in Ashgabat and Mary Provinces.
The Forum, held under the theme 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games 100 Days to Go International Media Forum, will see the participation of over 100 journalists from around the world. It will provide an excellent occasion for them to witness first-hand Turkmenistan’s advanced preparedness for Ashgabat 2017, as well as experience the country’s warm hospitality.
Visiting media will commence the 100 Days to Go celebrations with a tour of the state of the art Ashgabat Olympic Complex before getting a taste of Turkmenistan’s history at the Turkmen National Carpet Museum and a tour of the capital city’s landmarks.
On the second day, the media contingent will visit the multi-functional Stadium of Mary before witnessing the ceremonies to mark Ashgabat 2017’s 100 Days to Go Countdown. While organisers have kept the exact nature of celebrations as a closely-guarded secret, rest assured that no one will be disappointed.
The National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan Secretary General AzatMyradov will preside over the Opening Ceremony of the International Media Forum. AnnageldyGarajayev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, will convey a congratulatory message to the delegates from Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
A short film on sports in the host nation will be followed by speeches by State Sports Committee of Turkmenistan Chairman ToylyKomekov, International Sports Press Association Vice-President EsatRahmiYilmar, and Chairman of the 5th AIMAG Executive Committee, Dayanch Gulgeldiyev, among others.
The Forum will conclude with an official address to Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to be delivered by YakupSakhetmyradov of the 5th AIMAG Executive Committee. After the sessions’ conclusion, delegates will visit the culturally and historically significant city of Merv, which dates back to ancient times.
The final day of the International Media Forum will see journalists visiting the International Akhalteke Equestrian Sports Complex, the largest horseracing hippodrome in Turkmenistan.Ashgabat 2017 commences on 17 September, and will see the very best athletes from Asia and Oceania compete in 21 sports over 12 days at the newly constructed Ashgabat Olympic Complex.
